About ​Wendy Conroy

Wendy is an experienced, qualified and accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist. She holds an Honours Degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Middlesex University and works in accordance with the code of ethics and practice outlined by the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP). She is also a qualified couple’s counsellor and is trained in suicide intervention and child protection. Although experienced in all general counselling issues, such as anxiety, self-esteem, bereavement and loss, depression etc. Wendy specialises in issues of Sexual violence, having gained extensive experience in this area while working with the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre. She feels passionately about the many people suffering as a direct result of sexual violence, in particular adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse. Firmly believing that everyone has the right to leave that abuse behind, to heal, be heard, believed, empowered, learn to trust again and to be supported fully towards a brighter future.

Wendy is committed to providing counselling and psychotherapy of the highest ethical and professional standard to individuals, couples and families regardless of age, religious beliefs, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation or educational background. In doing so she creates a relaxed, supportive, confidential space for each person to explore their personal challenges at their own pace. Wendy’s model of working is client-centred and non-directive. In building a therapeutic relationship with each client her aim is to create a safe space for the client to use and explore whatever issues they choose to bring to therapy. Underpinning her work is a good integrative understanding with a person centred approach at its core, which enables her to practice in her own experienced and authentic way. Incorporating a wide range of techniques by working collaboratively with clients to understand their particular circumstances or issues that are problematic for them, drawing on their strengths and resources in order to maximise and enhance the quality of each individual’s experience. In doing so encouraging empowerment and personal growth.
