Acupuncture Therapy

Acupuncture is a system of medicine in its own right that lends to an explanation of behaviour of the human body when not in balance. In Western Medicine this can be described as “disease”, “illnesses”, “sickness”. In acupuncture, this is described as ‘a pattern’, based upon how the energy of the body is working or indeed under duress. It is based upon harmony or balance, so it accounts for the physical, the mental, the emotional and the spirit of the person receiving treatment.
Acupuncture is a holistic health technique that stems from Traditional Chinese Medicine practices in which trained practitioners stimulate specific points on the body by inserting thin needles into the skin.
Surprisingly, although needles are used in acupuncture, treatments are relatively pain-free. In fact, one of the most popular uses of acupuncture is to reduce chronic pain throughout the body in a natural way

Acupuncture assists in treating
• Pain Management
• Pregnancy & Fertility
• Chronic Illness support & recovery
• Acne
• Allergies & Hay Fever
• Stress management

Acupuncture for Pain management

Some examples where Acupuncture can assist pain management:
• Arthritis
• Fibromyalgia
• Joint pain
• Sports injury/recovery
• Rehabilitation
• Frozen shoulder
• RSI
• Whip lash
• Neck pain/ stiffness

Among the many things that acupuncture does is promote energy and blood movement, thus since pain is caused by the blockage of this movement, acupuncture directly acts upon the cause of pain. Further, this movement action of acupuncture and other actions of strengthening the body and relieving stress, expels or addresses the factors that lead to blockages, further helping to promote movement and prevent recurrence. The promotion of energy and blood flow leads to a strengthening of injured areas, also helping to prevent recurrence.

Acupuncture for Allergies

The World Health Organization (WHO) considers seasonal allergies, as well as asthma and sinusitis, as respiratory diseases that can be helped effectively with acupuncture.

An allergy is an excessive reaction by the immune system to a substance that is normally harmless. Such a substance is called an “allergen”. The primary allergens are pollen, ragweed, dust, mites, pet hair, and certain chemical products.

Allergies are often seasonal, but can also be present year round. While they affect different people in different ways, the typical symptoms include:

  • itchy and/or red eyes
  • itchy palate
  • itchy and runny nose
  • sneezing and nasal congestion (allergic rhinitis)
  • difficulty breathing

These symptoms may be accompanied by headache, sinusitis, or a rash. In some cases, these will be the only signs of the allergy.

Cupping

Cupping therapy is a medical technique in which small bell-shaped glass cups or bamboo cups are placed on the skin via vacuum suction.

The suction effect is created when a small flame warms the cup before placing it on the skin. This action of suction stimulates blood and lymph flow, improving circulation, relaxing muscles and reduces inflammation. It can be used to treat musculoskeletal conditions such as back, shoulder or neck pain, frozen shoulder, muscle tightness or tension.

Cupping can be used alongside acupuncture for certain conditions but can be used as a stand alone treatment also if clients prefer not to have acupuncture. It can sometimes leave temporary circular marks or bruising on the skin. This is normal and not painful.

Acupuncture Facial Rejuvenation

Facial rejuvenation acupuncture is a holistic approach to a non-surgical, natural face lift. It involves inserting disposable, sterile, hair fine needles into areas of the face which then stimulates the muscles of the face, increasing the local circulation of blood, lymph drainage and collagen production, resulting in a firmer muscle tone, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and improving skin quality and texture, leaving a natural healthy glow.

Eye bags, dark circles and puffiness around the eyes will also be reduced.

10 to 12 treatments are recommended at weekly intervals. Regular maintenance treatments can be useful in maintaining optimum results. A once off treatment can be ideal for clients looking to achieve a bright healthy glow for a special occasion.
